歴代会長の記録からたどる、私たちの歩み/Tracing Our History Through Past Presidents

1907年に創立されたシアトル鹿児島県人会は、2027年に120周年を迎えます。今回ご紹介するのは、2007年の創立100周年に向けてまとめられた、歴代会長に関する記録です。

Founded in 1907, the Seattle Kagoshima Kenjinkai will celebrate its 120th anniversary in 2027.This document was compiled around 2007 as part of an effort to preserve the history of those who served as president.

一方で、初代会長や一部の就任年代・順番については、2007年当時でも完全には確認できていませんでした。

At the same time, some details—including the identity of the first president and the exact years or order of service—remain uncertain.

資料には、歴史を調べる姿勢を表すこんな言葉も残されています。

The document also leaves us with these words:

「歴史は手探りから始めて徐々に史実に近付くのである。」 “History begins with careful searching, gradually bringing us closer to the truth.”

100周年から約20年。今度は私たちが、残された写真や資料、そして皆さまの記憶を次の世代へつないでいく番です。

Nearly 20 years after the 100th anniversary, it is now our turn to preserve these photographs, records, and memories for future generations.
